ABOUT SBYS:
Stop Before You Start© (SBYS) will be a self contained education pack for schools, inspired around the real-life experiences of Sheila McGill who lost both parents to smoking related cancer within 12 months of each other. Her account, expressed through narrative poetry, will be embedded into lesson frameworks using the emotionally charged poems written during that time.
Currently 12 - 15% of 15 year olds smoke (depending on location) and SBYS© uses an innovative and proactive approach in challenging attitudes to ‘start smoking’.
Aim:
To challenge attitudes held by young people in regard to taking up smoking and highlight informed choice. “You will never have to try and STOP if you don’t START” is a motto of the campaign.
Thank you,
Sheila McGill
Striving to be a major contributor in reducing the uptake of smoking in young people
